Gaza Conflict Worsens As Death Toll Rises And Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
On the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2023, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip, which it called Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
The operation included the launch of thousands of rockets at the occupied territories, infiltration and storming of some settlements, and the control of some of them.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army intensified its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, killing 1,055. In response, the resistance launched rocket strikes on various areas of the occupied territories, especially Ashkelon.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said early Wednesday that more than 263,000 people had been displaced within Gaza, and that the number is expected to rise further.
