Emerging story
In light of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, pro-Israel social media users widely circulated a video clip purporting to feature Israel's Iron Dome intercepting rockets fired by the Palestinian Resistance from Gaza.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the footage and found the claim to be fake.
Following a thorough investigation, Misbar's team concluded that the video making the rounds to be unauthentic. It displays a shot from a video simulation game called Arma 3.
A Shot from a Video Game, Unrelated to the Israel-Gaza Conflict
In contrast to the viral claim, the footage has no connection to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. A YouTube channel named "Compared Comparison," known for sharing videos related to the Arma 3 military simulation game, uploaded a very similar video to the circulating video.
This same channel also posted another video that closely matched the circulating footage, displaying the same location and the visual effects of rockets being intercepted by the Iron Dome system.
When comparing the circulating video with the videos published by the channel, we can identify stark similarities, including the watchtower, the location, the visual effects, and the appearance of the intercepted rockets.
Arma 3 Military Simulation Game
Arma 3 is a military simulation video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive. This game is renowned for its open-world environment and realistic gameplay elements. It was originally launched on September 12, 2013, for Microsoft Windows, and later on August 31, 2015, for macOS and Linux.
Misbar's team has previously debunked viral videos from the game in relation to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Airstrikes Claimed the Lives of 7000 Gaza Civilians
Since October 7, at least 7,028 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, with around 2,500 children among the victims.
The medical teams in the region are overwhelmed and exhausted, struggling to cope with the immense influx of casualties. Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis has set up a tent outside its emergency department to accommodate the bodies inside the facility and to assist families in identifying their loved ones for burial. The morgue is already filled with deceased Gazans.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates emphasized that the right to self-defense should not be used to justify breaking the law and disregarding the rights of Palestinians.
Amnesty International has once again called for an immediate ceasefire. The UK-based human rights organization has issued a statement urging an end to the rising death toll and the delivery of essential aid to Gaza, which is facing an "unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe."
