Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading. The video does not depict a fire at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv caused by missiles from the Palestinian resistance.
Incident at German Airport as Armed Man Broke Security Barriers
The video, depicting an unexpected incident at Hamburg Airport in Germany, was released on November 5. In this incident, an armed man breached the airport's security barriers with his car, disrupting air traffic navigation. Local media reported that the armed man was accompanied by his four-year-old daughter.
The incident began at approximately 8:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, November 4, when the armed man drove onto an airport tarmac, threw two Molotov cocktails from his vehicle, and fired two shots in the air.
German police stated that at least two individuals, including a child, were in the car. The police spokesperson added that the driver's wife made an emergency call to alert the police about the abduction of her child.
Hamburg police issued a statement suggesting that a “custody dispute may have been the motive behind this operation."
On the other side, media outlets reported that the man was a Turkish national and intended to board a plane with his daughter, stating that he had asked to be allowed to travel to Türkiye with his young daughter.
Ben Gurion Airport Flights Decline Since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood
Since the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, flights to and from Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport have decreased by 80%, according to a report by the Secret Flights website, which tracks flight data.
As per the report, the airport recorded an average of 100 daily flights landing at Ben Gurion Airport during the war, compared to an average of 500 flights during the pre-war period."
The Ongoing Israeli Aggression on Gaza
The circulation of the video comes amid the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, for 33 consecutive days since its inception on October 7, following the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. Relentless airstrikes continue to strike the Gaza Strip, and the occupation forces have committed further massacres, bringing the total casualties since the beginning of the aggression to over 10,300.
In response, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the destruction of more than 10 Israeli tanks and other military vehicles. They also broadcasted footage of fierce clashes with invading Israeli forces in the northwestern area of Beit Lahia.
