Misbar's team found that the picture has been showing up since 2019 on social media accounts and platforms specialized in humorous content. It was used to mock the way the medical equipment was positioned on the man's face in the image.
The Image Is From an Old Satirical Scene and Is Unrelated to Gaza
Malaysian accounts indicate that the image was taken from a Malaysian drama work, as can be seen from the original image displaying the “Astro Warna” logo, which is a Malaysian television network specialized in comedy programs, suggesting that the picture was originally taken of a satirical scene.
Israeli Campaign Promoting the Idea That Palestinians Fake Their Deaths
This trending picture emerges amidst an Israeli-led campaign, propagated by Israeli accounts, promoting misleading claims aiming to cast doubt on images depicting Palestinian deaths and the corpses of the victims of the latest Israeli aggression against the Gaza strip.

The Ongoing Israeli Aggression in Gaza: A New Massacre at Al-Fakhoura School
The Israeli occupation continues its violent attacks on the Gaza strip. Its forces evacuated Al-Shifa Medical Complex, evacuating the majority of injured people, patients, and medical staff after giving them on hour to flee. Additionally, on Saturday, November 18, the Israeli army committed a new massacre at the Al-Fakhoura school in northern Gaza.
The Palestinian Foreign ministry stated in a release, “The Al-Fakhoura school massacre highlights Israel's intent in its war against civilians to eradicate the Palestinian presence from the entirety of northern Gaza."
