Emerging story
The Israeli military spokesman to the Arab world, Avichay Adraee, shared a picture on November 26, alleging that it depicted a barrier erected by Hamas to obstruct the entry of humanitarian aid trucks to the residents of Northern Gaza.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading. The landmarks in the picture correspond to the geographical features of a site where the Israeli soldiers are stationed, not an area controlled by Hamas in northern Gaza, as claimed.
The So-Called Safe Passage in Gaza
On November 11, Adraee's official account shared a video showing the same geographical location mentioned in the claim. The video attested to the displacement of Palestinians from Northern Gaza through the "Safe Passage" on Salah Al-Din Road, with Israeli soldiers present at the scene.
Furthermore, on November 13, the official Israeli army account shared another video demonstrating the evacuation of citizens from Northern Gaza to the south, in the same geographical location. This confirms that the location depicted in the claim is where the occupation forces are present, not Hamas.
In addition, Misbar noted that the picture posted by Adraee revealed the presence of an Israeli soldier at the location, contradicting the circulating allegation.
Israel Blocks Humanitarian Aid and Ambulances From Entering Gaza
Meanwhile, several media outlets documented the prolonged wait of numerous trucks carrying humanitarian aid on Salah Al-Din Road in central Gaza. They awaited authorization from the Israeli army to enter Gaza City and the northern region, as reported by Al Jazeera correspondent Hisham Zaqout on November 25.
Temporary Ceasefire in Gaza Strip
Monday, November 27, marks the last day of the temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation forces. This ceasefire began on Friday, November 24, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.
The ceasefire agreement includes the release of 50 Israeli hostages in exchange for 150 Palestinians, including women and children under 19 years old, who are held by the occupation forces. Additionally, it involves the daily entry of 200 trucks carrying relief and medical supplies, along with four trucks of fuel and cooking gas for all areas of the Gaza Strip.
