The Claim

A video shows a Hamas Compound In Alabama.

Emerging story

A viral video shared on TikTok claims to show a Hamas compound in Alabama accompanied by the caption"Hamas is here and training hidden in plain sight."

The video features footage of a plot of land in Macon County, which, at first sight, may appear to be an abandoned dump. However, a news story within the video, states that the FBI search warrant describes this land as a makeshift military-style obstacle course. It is said to belong to a small group of terrorists led by Siraj Wahhaj, who is the owner of the property.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.

The Report Does Not Mention Hamas

Misbar's team found that the viral video is sourced from a news report by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which was originally published on May 10, 2019.

The report does not specifically mention Hamas. It mentioned a compound located near Tuskegee, Alabama, which the FBI, as described in a search warrant obtained by Sinclair, referred to as a "makeshift military style obstacle course." The group associated with this compound was suspected of being involved with a similar compound that was raided in New Mexico in August 2018.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens as Israeli Attacks in Gaza Take Heavy Toll

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, approximately 17,500 have lost their lives in Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 7. This devastating toll has left over 46,400 individuals injured. The ministry's spokesperson further highlighted the dire situation by stating that Gaza hospitals are currently operating at an alarming occupancy rate of 262%.

This critical state has led to a depletion of essential medical supplies. Additionally, the ministry reported that more than 300,000 cases of 15 infectious diseases have been identified in shelters, compounding the already severe humanitarian crisis.
