The Video Was Taken in Egypt, Not in Gaza
Misbar's team found that the video was captured in Rabaa, Egypt on August 14, 2013.
Al Jazeera’s YouTube channel released the footage on August 14. It shows a distressing scene of the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in dispersal, where a bulldozer callously swept away numerous bodies of massacre victims, disregarding the pleas and warnings of the protestors.
Security Forces' Assault on Rab’a Protest Encampment Leaves Chaos and Destruction
During the events of August 14, security forces launched an assault on the Rab’a protest encampment, deploying armed personnel carriers, bulldozers, ground troops, and snipers from various entrances. Shockingly, there was a lack of substantial warning given, and security forces began firing into large crowds, preventing any safe exit for approximately 12 hours.
Furthermore, makeshift medical facilities were targeted, and snipers were strategically positioned to shoot at anyone attempting to enter or leave Rab’a hospital. As the day progressed, the central stage, field hospital, mosque, and the first floor of Rab’a hospital were set ablaze, presumably by security forces.
Al-Awda Hospital Under Israeli Control: Interrogations, Strained Resources, and Patient Concerns
According to the international aid agency Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza has fallen under the control of Israeli forces since Sunday, following a lengthy 12-day siege. Disturbingly, males over the age of 16, including six staff members, were forcefully removed from the hospital, subjected to interrogation after being stripped and bound. After the interrogations, MSF reported that most were returned to the hospital and instructed not to move.
Furthermore, MSF highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the hospital, which continues to accommodate dozens of patients, including 14 children. The facility is now grappling with a critical shortage of vital supplies such as general anaesthesia and oxygen, further exacerbating the already strained situation.
