Devastating Impact of Heavy Bombs Revealed in Early Days of Gaza War
According to an analysis conducted by CNN and the artificial intelligence company “Synthetaic,” during the initial month of the war on Gaza, Israel deployed numerous massive bombs, capable of causing casualties over distances exceeding 1,000 feet. Satellite imagery obtained from this period exposes the presence of more than 500 impact craters, each measuring at least 12 meters (40 feet) in diameter. These craters align with the destructive aftermath caused by 2,000-pound bombs, which are four times heavier than the largest bombs used by the United States against ISIS in Mosul, Iraq.
Experts in weaponry and warfare attribute the staggering death toll to the extensive use of such heavy munitions, particularly the 2,000-pound bombs. Gaza's population density is among the highest in the world, making the impact of these powerful explosives even more devastating. The tightly packed nature of the population exacerbates the consequences of deploying such heavy munitions, amplifying their profound effect on civilian casualties.
