Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the claim and found it to be misleading, as the video is outdated and not related to the U.S. forces’ preparations to eliminate the Houthi group in Yemen, following their continued attacks on Israeli ships in the Red Sea.

The video dates back to April 2013, featuring a tour of U.S. Air Force F-16 aircraft at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea at the time.

The video was posted on the AiirSource Military website, which covers events and missions carried out by the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. According to reports from that time, the tour featured F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, performing the “elephant walk” as they moved on the runway at Kunsan Air Base.

Formation of a Naval Force to Repel the Houthis

The “Guardian of Prosperity,” a naval task force consisting of ten countries, was established on December 18, 2023, as announced by U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin. This force aims to counter Houthi attacks on commercial ships traveling to and from Israel in the Red Sea.

For weeks, the Houthis have targeted ships operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel using missiles and drones in the Red Sea. This solidarity action is in support of Gaza, which has been under Israeli war since October 7 of last year, resulting in 20,000 deaths and over 50,000 injuries.

The U.S. Navy Targets Houthi Boats in the Red Sea

On Sunday, December 31, the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command announced that they had sunk three out of four Houthi boats and eliminated their crews. This action was in response to the boats' attack on a commercial ship in the Red Sea.

In contrast, the Houthis declared, “U.S. enemy forces attacked three boats belonging to the Yemeni naval forces, resulting in the martyrdom and loss of ten members of the naval forces.”
