According to a Reuters article published on March 26, 2022, the Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for launching attacks on Saudi energy facilities. The Saudi-led coalition reported that a fire broke out in two storage tanks at Aramco's petroleum products distribution station in Jeddah, resulting from the attack. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.

Massive Retaliatory Strike Targets Houthi Sites in Yemen by U.S. and British Forces

These claims spread after the armed forces of the United States and Britain carried out a significant bombing operation on Thursday, targeting more than a dozen locations used by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The retaliatory strike involved the deployment of Tomahawk missiles launched from warships and submarines, as well as fighter jets.

The U.S. Air Force's Mideast command confirmed that it conducted airstrikes on 16 sites in Yemen, hitting over 60 targets. These targets included command-and-control centers, munitions depots, launching systems, production facilities, and air defense radar systems.

President Joe Biden stated that the purpose of these strikes was to demonstrate that the U.S. and its allies will not tolerate the continuous attacks by the Houthi militant group in the Red Sea region. He emphasized that the decision to carry out the strikes was made after exhausting diplomatic negotiations and careful deliberation.
