The Claim

The aid allocated to Gaza has expired in Rafah, Egypt, and is in a landfill. While people are dying of hunger in Gaza and the Arabs are unable to bring in aid until it has expired!! what a shame.

Emerging story

Recently, accounts and pages on the social media platform X have been circulating a video claiming to depict the disposal of aid designated for Gaza in a landfill. The video suggests that this disposal occurs after the aid reaches the Egyptian Rafah crossing and expires, before reaching the besieged Gaza Strip.

Israel Accuses Egypt of Blocking the Entry of Aid Into Gaza

The dissemination of the claim followed statements made by Christopher Stalker, the lawyer representing the Israeli occupation state, on Friday, January 12, during the second hearing of the lawsuit brought by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice. The lawsuit accuses Israel of committing "genocidal" crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Stalker asserted that "Israel did not hinder the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip" and claimed that "Egypt is entirely responsible for the Rafah crossing and can facilitate the entry of aid from the first day of the conflict."

Egypt Responds to Israel’s Statements

While the Egyptian side refuted the Israeli allegations, dismissing them as "claims and lies," Egypt has also submitted a legal memorandum to the International Court of Justice in response to the Israeli accusations.

Diaa Rashwan, the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence affiliated with the presidency, stated that "the hastiness and falsehood of the Israeli allegations are evident from the fact that all Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, former Energy Minister Yisrael Katz, and the current Eli Cohen, have repeatedly affirmed in public statements since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza that they will not allow the entry of aid into Gaza, specifically fuel, as this is part of the war waged by their state on the territory."

Rashwan clarified that "Egypt's sovereignty extends only to the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, while the other side in Gaza is subject to the actual authority of the occupation."

New Measures for Aid Entry Into Gaza

The Egyptian authorities have moved to strengthen international oversight of aid entry into the besieged Gaza Strip. Under the new procedures, Egypt will coordinate with the Red Cross, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, and UN-affiliated organizations to transport aid through the airports and seaports of Al-Arish to the Rafah crossing and Kerem Shalom, facilitating its entry into Gaza.
