Recently, accounts and pages, including the account of Israeli activist Edy Cohen on the X platform, have circulated a picture claiming to depict a mysterious explosion near one of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ warehouses at the Kosha Novin Pars factory in the city of Saveh.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading, as the photo was taken in June 2023 in an industrial region close to Isfahan, not during the unexplained explosion that rocked one of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' warehouses.
Fire in an Industrial Zone In Iran
The photo dates back to June 2023, capturing a fire that erupted in the warehouse of the Hyplast company of Mokhtara Industrial Group near Isfahan.
Iranian media reported that firefighting teams worked to extinguish the fire, specifying that the incident resulted in three people suffering from superficial burns, along with 20 individuals sustaining injuries from smoke and gas. It was noted that one person was transported to medical centers for necessary medical procedures.
Explosion at Kosha Novin Pars Factory
News reports on Monday, January 15, indicated an incident at the Kosha Novin Pars Metallurgical Industries Factory in the Markazi provincial industrial town of Mamounia Sawa. The reports also mentioned that seven workers sustained burns as a result of the incident.
According to a labor source, the explosion of a metal smelting machine caused the incident. No news or official sources reported that the incident occurred in a warehouse belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Explosive Device Detonates in Southern Iran
Iranian news sources reported that an explosive device exploded near the city of Iranshahr in southeastern Iran on Tuesday morning, January 16, without causing any reported casualties or damage.
Additionally, Mehrdad Jahandideh, the acting City Governor, stated that the device detonated close to the Iranshahr-Sarbaz road. Authorities are currently working to identify the perpetrator of the incident.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Targets Sites in Iraqi Kurdistan
The claim coincides with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ announcement of targeting what it called “a Mossad spy den in the Kurdistan region of Iraq and a terrorist stronghold in Syria” using 24 ballistic missiles.
However, the U.S. State Department condemned these assaults. “We reject Iran's careless missile attacks that jeopardize the stability of Iraq,” stated the Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
