Houthi Forces Launch New Missile Attack on U.S-Owned Vessel as Strikes Fail to Deter Campaign
These claims spread after Houthi forces carried out another missile attack on a U.S-owned vessel on Thursday, following President Joe Biden's acknowledgment that American strikes have not succeeded in deterring the militants' campaign in the Red Sea.
According to the Pentagon, no damage or injuries were reported after the Houthis fired two missiles at the MV Chem Ranger. This attack occurred after the United States conducted a fifth round of strikes in Yemen earlier that same day.
The White House stated that U.S. forces had successfully neutralized a range of Houthi missiles intended for the Red Sea. When asked about the effectiveness of the attacks on Houthi targets, President Biden responded that they were not halting the Houthis and that their campaign would continue.
U.S. Central Command, responsible for overseeing American operations in the Middle East, confirmed in a statement that strikes were carried out on two Houthi anti-ship missiles prepared for launch into the Southern Red Sea on Thursday.
