Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.
The Video Predates Iran’s Attack on Pakistan
Misbar's team found that the video dates back to 2018 and shows the Indian Army’s training exercise.
Similar videos also state that the footage is during an Indian Army field exercise at the Pokhran range in Rajasthan, five BM-21 Grad Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) systems showcased their firepower capabilities. In this video, each launcher emptied its load of 40 rockets within a span of 20 seconds, resulting in a total of 200 shells raining down on a simulated enemy position located 40 kilometers away.
Pakistan Conducts Strikes on Militant Hideouts Inside Iran
These claims spread after Pakistan carried out a series of military strikes on what they claimed to be separatist militant hideouts inside Iran. These strikes have significantly heightened tensions between the two neighboring countries.
Both Pakistan and Iran have now resorted to attacking militants on each other's soil, marking an extraordinary escalation in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the wider region. Under the operation name "Marg Bar Sarmachar," which loosely translates to "death to the guerrilla fighters," Pakistan announced on Thursday that its forces had executed a series of highly coordinated and precisely targeted military strikes in Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan province.
