Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.
Misbar's team found that the video is from September 2019 and shows a fire that occurred in a wooden boat used for maritime transportation in the port of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
According to a 2019 article, a fire erupted in a wooden boat that was specifically used for maritime transportation. The fire caused extensive damage to over 100 vehicles. Fortunately, the Civil Defense Department teams in the Emirate of Sharjah successfully extinguished the fire on Tuesday evening at the boat located in the port of Sharjah. No injuries were reported.
The operations room received a report about the fire incident, prompting the immediate response of fire brigades from the civil defense center, administration, and Semnan. They were able to control the fire without any casualties. Cooling operations are still ongoing, and the police have been involved to investigate the cause of the fire.
Houthi Rebels Target U.S. Warship and British Vessel
The circulation of the claim came in the background of an escalating series of aggressive attacks on maritime traffic, Yemen's Houthi rebels launched a missile targeting a United States warship, the USS Carney, as it patrolled the Gulf of Aden.
The U.S. warship successfully intercepted and shot down the projectile. In a separate incident, a British vessel was also struck by the Houthi rebels. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation at sea, representing the largest naval conflict the U.S. Navy has faced in the Middle East in decades. The Houthi missile fire also resulted in another commercial vessel being set ablaze. In response, U.S. forces conducted a strike against a Houthi anti-ship missile that was aimed at the Red Sea and ready for launch, as confirmed by the U.S. military's Central Command.
