Emerging story
Recently, social media accounts have circulated images claiming to be Maryam Al-sayed Deeb and her husband Abdullah Abu Nahl, a bride and groom killed by an Israeli airstrike three days after their wedding in Rafah City.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading. The pictures do not depict the martyrs Maryam Al-sayed Deeb and her husband Abdullah Abu Nahl; instead, they depict Mahmoud Khaziq and Shaima' Qazeat. The latter couple got married on February 16, 2024, in a refugee camp in Deir Al-Balah, central Gaza, amid Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip. Their decision to commemorate their love brought happiness not only to their hearts but also to those of their displaced neighbors and friends.

Despite being considered a safe zone for residents to flee the ongoing Israeli aggression in the southern Gaza Strip, the city of Rafah remains heavily targeted by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives.
