Emerging story
Recently, a video has gone viral on X purporting to show a Liverpool player being welcomed and honored at his school after his participation in winning the Carabao Cup final last Sunday.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.
The Video Is Unrelated To Liverpool
Misbar's team found that the video dates back to 2022 and shows 15-year-old amateur boxer Tadhg O'Donnell being met with a celebratory welcome at his school following his recent triumph at the European Junior Championships, where he secured a gold medal for Ireland.
The claim has been circulated after Liverpool's victory of Carabao Cup, for the season (2023-2024), against Chelsea by a score of one goal to nil, on Sunday, February 25, at Wembley Stadium in the British capital London.
Liverpool fielded several young players from their academy, including 19-year-olds Bobby Clark and James McConnell, and 18-year-old Jayden Danns. These fresh legs were crucial in helping the team reach extra time. In the additional 30 minutes, Liverpool dominated the game and emerged victorious thanks to a late header from their captain, Virgil van Dijk.
