Trump Triumphs Among Republicans, Biden Prevails for Democrats

The circulation of the claim comes with the news of Texas hosting Democratic and Republican presidential primaries. Former President Donald Trump emerged victorious on the Republican side, while President Joe Biden secured the win among Democrats.

Following the closure of the final polls in Texas at 8 p.m. Central Time, the Associated Press promptly declared both men as winners, with each securing a comfortable victory in the state. In the Democratic primary, Biden faced no substantial challengers. Meanwhile, Trump triumphed over his last competitor, Nikki Haley, who suspended her campaign on Wednesday morning following a series of primary losses nationwide.

Trump's success in Texas was not always assured. In the aftermath of the 2022 midterms, Republicans attributed significant losses to Trump, and numerous influential state figures hesitated to endorse the former president. Additionally, Trump encountered mounting legal issues. A November 2022 poll indicated that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a lead over Trump.

Biden Administration Urges Supreme Court to Halt Texas Immigration Law Enforcement

The Biden administration made a request to the Supreme Court on Monday to prevent Texas from implementing an immigration law known as SB4. This law would grant state law enforcement the authority to apprehend migrants suspected of unauthorized entry into the U.S.

SB4 is regarded as one of the most expensive state immigration laws in recent U.S. history. It would enable Texas law enforcement to detain and prosecute migrants under state criminal charges related to illegal entry or reentry. Additionally, it would authorize state judges to effectively issue deportation orders against individuals suspected of violating the law. Recently, U.S. District Court Judge David Ezra granted a temporary injunction, blocking Texas from enforcing SB4, which was scheduled to go into effect on Tuesday. Judge Ezra ruled that immigration enforcement falls under federal jurisdiction and dismissed Texas' argument of facing a migrant "invasion."

However, at Texas' request, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily suspended Judge Ezra's injunction while it reviewed the appeal. Upon the Justice Department's plea, Justice Samuel Alito of the Supreme Court halted the 5th Circuit's order until Wednesday, March 13, granting Texas until the end of next Monday to present its case. Should the Supreme Court rule in favor of Texas, SB4 could be implemented as early as 5 p.m. ET on March 13.
