Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating image and found the claim to be misleading.

Misbar's team found that this image is digitally altered. The flag of the Golani Reconnaissance Unit was substituted with the black-and-white flag of ISIS.

The photo dates back to June 5, 2023. Israeli Forces had dispatched a group of soldiers to join a military exercise led by the United States in Morocco and neighboring African countries.

The Israeli force participated in the African Lion international exercise. This event, the annual combined exercise of the U.S. Africa Command, brought eighteen nations, deploying over 8,000 personnel across Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia from May 13 to June 18 for the African Lion 2023 joint exercise.

Gaza Civil Defense Criticizes Aid Drops, Citing Increased Casualties

On Sunday, Gaza's Civil Defense stated that the implementation of aid drops into Gaza has not alleviated the famine crisis but instead has escalated the number of casualties and injuries. The Civil Defense did not disclose the exact count of individuals affected by the recent air drops nor the source of the aid. According to international aid agencies, over a million internally displaced Palestinians are seeking shelter in Rafah, Gaza's southernmost city.

Children in Gaza Are Facing a Hunger Crisis

Children in war-torn Gaza are not only falling victim to Israeli bombings but also to starvation. Authorities have been issuing warnings for months, indicating that Israel's blockade and military actions are pushing the Palestinian territory towards famine.

The most severe hunger crisis is observed in northern Gaza, where Israeli forces have enforced isolation and imposed prolonged food shortages. According to the Health Ministry, at least 20 individuals, primarily children but also including a 72-year-old man, have perished due to malnutrition and dehydration in Kamal Adwan and Shifa hospitals. Additionally, vulnerable children in the southern region, where aid access is relatively more consistent, are now beginning to suffer the same fate.
