Emerging story
Recently, social media users circulated a video showing a man smoking amidst a backdrop of body bags, alleging that the events surrounding the attack on Russia's Crocus concert hall are fabricated.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.
Misbar's team found that the video was posted on March 28, 2021, on TikTok by Vasya Ivanov, art director and production designer. The accompanying description translates to "Husky clip Shooting - Never ever."
The description refers to the music video by Russian rapper Husky. Vasya Ivanov is acknowledged as the Set Designer in the video's description. The orange truck transporting the black bags, along with the white building depicted in the clip, can be seen in the rapper's video.
Misbar previously investigated the video which was published under a different claim.
Putin Vows Retaliation for Deadly Attack on Moscow Concert Hall
Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged to act against those responsible for a fatal assault on a Moscow concert hall, which has resulted in the loss of 133 lives. Authorities announced that the four primary suspects were apprehended near the border with Ukraine.
The attack on Crocus City Hall, which occurred on Friday, marks the deadliest terrorist incident in Moscow in decades. It comes shortly after Putin's secured victory in a closely managed election, further consolidating his authority over the nation that he has governed since the early 2000s.
The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, a claim that a U.S. official stated the U.S. had no reason to doubt on Friday. On Saturday, the Russian Investigative Committee confirmed that the death toll had risen to 133 and stated that search efforts were ongoing. Additionally, the Committee announced on Saturday that four individuals suspected of perpetrating the attack were apprehended on Friday night near the Russia-Ukraine border.
Ukrainian President Accuses Putin of Blaming Ukraine for Moscow Concert Massacre
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin and others of attempting to shift blame for the Moscow concert attack onto Ukraine. Russia initiated its invasion of Ukraine over two years ago. Despite being repelled from its initial full-scale offensive aimed at capturing the capital, Kyiv, and controlling the entire country, the conflict persists. Ukraine's counteroffensive since last summer has encountered difficulties.
Putin asserted earlier today that Ukraine had colluded with the terrorist suspects responsible for the massacre at a pop concert, where at least 133 people were killed on Friday night. Zelenskiy has remarked that it was "entirely foreseeable" that Putin would wait until the following day to find a means of implicating Ukraine in the massacre.
