Recently, a video has gone viral on social media platform X purporting to be a recent release from the Islamic State (ISIS), threatening the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, amidst the ongoing war in Gaza.

Misbar investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. The video is old and dates back to a 2016 ISIS threat against Hamas, not coinciding with the current Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
ISIS Issues Video Warning Jerusalem Residents About Hamas
In June 2016, a video titled "A Message to Our People in Jerusalem" was released by the Islamic State in Aleppo, Syria. This video, widely shared on social media, included a warning against Hamas.
In the message, a masked ISIS member stated, "Hamas means nothing in our calculations," adding, “We will uproot the state of the Jews and you and Fatah, and all of the secularists are nothing and you will be overrun by our creeping multitudes.”
“The rule of sharia [Islamic law] will be implemented in Gaza, in spite of you. We swear that what is happening in the Levant today, and in particular the Yarmouk camp, will happen in Gaza,” another speaker said in the message.
The Islamic State Organization Excommunicates Hamas
In 2018, ISIS released a video accusing Hamas of "infidelity and apostasy" and inciting against the movement. The video showed the execution of a young man named Mousa Abu Zammat by shooting him in the head, carried out by another young man from Gaza named "Mohammad Al-Dajani" in Sinai, Egypt, on charges of assisting Hamas in smuggling weapons into the Gaza Strip through Sinai.
The Ongoing Israeli War on Gaza
The circulation of the video aligns with the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, now entering its 171st day, which has left thousands of dead, most of them children and women, since October 7, 2023.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has announced an increase in the toll of the Israeli aggression to 32,226 victims and 74,518 injuries since the beginning of the war.
For the eighth consecutive day, the occupation army has besieged Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City and committed massacres in its vicinity, resulting in numerous fatalities. Furthermore, they have raided Al-Amal and Nasser hospitals, while simultaneously conducting airstrikes and artillery bombardments targeting various locations.
