Russian Fighter Aircraft Training in 2020
The video was published on the Russian TV website “ТВ Ц” on October 6, 2020, showcasing training exercises conducted by MiG-31 fighter jet crews from the Pacific Fleet near the island of Kamchatka.
According to media reports, the scenes published by the Russian Ministry of Defense, captured from inside the command center, represented a simulation of an airspace intrusion. The pilots carried out an interception of the intruding aircraft at an altitude estimated to be around 20,000 meters.
Russia Announces Interception of American Bombers Over the Barents Sea
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday, March 24, that it had deployed a MiG-31 fighter jet to intercept two American B-1B bombers over the Barents Sea in the Arctic.
The Ministry of Defense stated on the Telegram website that as the MiG-31 approached the American bombers, they corrected their course to veer away from Russian borders. The aircraft then returned to its original airport without any violation of Russian airspace.
MiG-31: An Interceptor Aircraft
The Russian MiG-31 is one of the primary interceptor aircraft in the lineup of the Russian Air Defense Forces. Capable of flying towards its target at speeds exceeding ten thousand kilometers per hour, its crew includes two individuals: the pilot and the navigator. With a length of over 22 meters and a height exceeding 6 meters, it was designed in the early 1970s to intercept air targets at high altitudes. The MiG-31 entered service with the Soviet Air Forces in 1981.
