Amid escalating tensions at the U.S. border, social media users circulated a video clip purporting to show members of the U.S. Congress dancing to criticism of the Biden administration's border policies by some lawmakers.

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.
Misbar's team found that the video dates back to May 2, 2023 and shows the Florida House of Representatives dancing in the central aisle.
According to The FLORIDA Channel, members of the council were dancing to celebrate “Boots Day” in the Capitol. In addition to showing off their boots, the lawmakers line danced in the center aisle.
While the shared clip may not be identical, it features the same individuals dancing in both videos. Additionally, the chamber depicted in the viral video corresponds to images of Florida’s legislative chamber published on The FLORIDA Channel.
Legal Proceedings Regarding Texas Border Law
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of the U.S. granted Texas permission to enforce a new state law allowing police to arrest individuals for unlawfully crossing the border from Mexico. However, hours later, a federal appeals court reinstated an injunction preventing the law from taking effect. Originally scheduled to come into force on March 5, the Texas law was temporarily halted by the Supreme Court for two weeks while emergency requests from the Biden administration and immigrant rights groups were considered. These parties argued that the law encroaches upon federal immigration authority.
On Thursday, a confrontation occurred between a contingent of migrants and Texas National Guard troops near a breach in barbed wire fencing in El Paso. The migrants were awaiting surrender to federal border agents, highlighting the ongoing tension between the state and federal government regarding immigration law enforcement.
