The Claim

No one believes Gaza's Pollywood anymore. A Father From Gaza Faking His Son’s Death.

Emerging story

Recently, several X accounts have been circulating a video depicting a father holding his son's body, purportedly while attempting to deliver it to a hospital. These posts claim that the video depicts a fabricated scene from Gaza.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found it to be misleading. The video was previously published on the Al-Jazeera website in December 2023. It was taken from Jenin, showing a father who could not deliver his injured son to a hospital because of Israeli impediments, which ultimately caused his death.

The Number of Victims of Clashes in Jenin Is Rising

Since October 7, clashes have widely broken out in the West Bank, especially in the Jenin camp, between Israeli forces and the resistance troops deeply rooted in the camp. Israeli raids have increased in number and aggressiveness, resulting in numerous casualties, including children. A report from December 2023 indicated that about 270 people had been killed in the West Bank since October 7. The video was published by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, showing the death of Ahmad Samar, a 13-year-old boy, after being injured in the raids. Ahmad's arrival at the 'Al-Shaheed Khalil Sulaiman' hospital was impeded by the Israeli Army, resulting in his death in his father's arms, as shown in the video.

Ongoing Campaign Alleges Continuous Faking of Gazans’ Deaths

Despite the extensive and documented coverage of the victims of the Gaza War, campaigns alleging the falsification of videos depicting deaths and injuries in Gaza persist. One notable account, "Gazawood – the Pallywood Saga," is among the primary sources employing misleading videos to support these assertions, with Misbar having previously debunked many of its claims. Additionally, Misbar has previously scrutinized the details of the pro-Israeli campaign.
