This Video Does Not Show Iranian Missile Attack On Israel

Misbar investigated the viral claim and found it to be misleading.

Following a reverse image search, Misbar's team found the video is outdated and has no relation to the anticipated Iranian response in retaliation for the deadly strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The Video Shows Ukraine Launching Its Own Attack On Russian-annexed Sevastopol

The video at issue was published in March showing multiple Ukrainian Storm Shadow cruise missiles slamming into a target in Sevastopol, a city in Crimea.

Screenshots taken from the video or images that could be seen in the same video were shared by several media outlets, confirming that it shows Ukraine launching its own attack on Russian-annexed Sevastopol. On March 23, The Sun shared the video with screenshots from its report on the attack Ukraine launched on Russian-annexed Sevastopol in Crimea‌.

Ukrainska Pravda, a Ukrainian online newspaper, also shared a screenshot from the video confirming that it shows the Ukrainian cruise missiles on a Russian target in March.

On the evening of March 23, ten powerful explosions were heard in the city of Sevastopol. According to the correspondent of RFE/RL's Krym, the explosions came from the direction of Kozacha Bay. They were described as “the most massive in recent times” by the head of Russian-controlled Sevastopol, Mykhailo Razvozhaev.

Razvozhaev reported that a 65-year-old Sevastopol resident was killed and four more people were injured in the Ukrainian missile attacks on the city.

Iran Threatened And Israel Is On High Alert

After Israel targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus killing senior Revolutionary Guard commanders, Israel has temporarily paused leave for Israeli defense forces and heightened its air defence command to deal with possible missile or drone attacks from Iran.

“In accordance with the situational assessment, it has been decided that leave will be temporarily paused for all IDF (Israel Defense Forces) combat units. The IDF is at war and the deployment of forces is under continuous assessment according to requirements,” the military said in a statement.

Israel has also intensified GPS jamming, which has expanded to key areas in Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, causing disruptions to navigation services and impacting daily operations, in an apparent attempt to ward off guided missiles.

Iran has yet to respond. Many Iranians are furious about the targeting of the consulate and the killing of the commanders. On Friday, thousands joined a funeral in Tehran for the seven killed Guard members, chanting “death to Israel,” while holding banners with the photos of the Guards killed in the attack. Other banners read: “We will make the wicked Zionist regime regret this crime, with the power of God.”
