The Claim

Israel is burning.

Emerging story

Recently, accounts and pages on social media have been circulating a video, claiming it shows live footage of Iranian missiles striking deep into Israeli territory and cities burning in the occupied lands.

Israel is burning.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading. The video clip is old and does not show Iranian missiles reaching Israel or cities burning in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Explosions in the Crimean Peninsula

The video dates back to massive explosions that occurred at the Sevastopol port on the Crimean Peninsula on the evening of Saturday, March 23.

Explosions in the Crimean Peninsula

At that time, the Russian authorities announced that the Ukrainian army had launched intensive missile attacks on the Crimean Peninsula. Mikhail Razvozhayev, the governor of Sevastopol, stated that air raid sirens were triggered due to an airstrike at 22:44 Moscow time. He added that all air defense systems in Sevastopol were activated and that the Russian military attempted to destroy Ukrainian aerial targets.

The Iranian Attack on Israel

The claim began circulating following Iran's announcement that it launched drones and missiles at Israel late Saturday evening, marking its first direct attack on Israel.

Air raid sirens sounded in Israel, and sources reported the interception of explosive drones over the occupied territories.

Meanwhile, Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated that Iran had fired dozens of drones, ballistic missiles at Israel, some of which were intercepted outside Israeli borders.

Iran Vows Revenge Against Israel

These developments followed Iran's announcement a few days ago that it would respond to Israel's targeting of its consulate in Damascus on April 1, which resulted in the deaths of seven Revolutionary Guards officers, including two senior leaders.

Iranian television reported that "half of the missiles have hit their targets so far," while the Fars News Agency quoted an informed military source saying, "The punitive operations against Israel have not yet ended and are ongoing," indicating that all targets of the Iranian missile and drone attacks were military.
