Iran Attacks Israel for the First Time

The claim emerged as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard launched hundreds of drones and missiles towards Israel in the late hours of Saturday, with some reaching Israeli airspace on Sunday morning. This marks Iran's first direct assault of this kind against Israel. Sirens blared across Israel as media outlets reported on aerial interception operations aimed at explosive drones over specific areas.

According to Israeli Military Spokesperson Daniel Hagari, Iran has launched dozens of surface-to-surface missiles towards Israel, several of which were intercepted outside Israeli borders.

Iran Retaliates for Targeting of Its Consulate in Damascus

These recent developments follow Iran's vow to retaliate against an airstrike, which it accuses Israel of masterminding. This airstrike targeted the Iranian consulate building in Damascus on April 1, resulting in the deaths of two Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders, Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, along with five Iranian military advisors.

Iranian state TV reported that 'half of the missiles launched towards Israel on Saturday night successfully hit their targets.' Meanwhile, an informed military source quoted by the Fars News Agency stated that 'Israel's punitive operations are not yet over and are ongoing.' The source emphasized that all targets of the Iranian missile and drone attacks were military in nature.
