Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.

The video was shot in an Israeli settlement, but not following the recent Iranian attack on Israel.

Old Video of Israel’s Iron Dome Intercepting Rockets

Misbar's investigative team found the original video shared on a Telegram channel focused on reporting Israeli occupation updates. The video was uploaded on July 5, 2023, without any additional details.

In addition, Misbar found scenes from the circulated video shared by AlHadath channel on its X account on July 5, 2023, suggesting it shows the interception of Iron Dome missiles over the Sderot settlement.

Misbar searched for nearby landmarks mentioned in the video using Google Maps, such as the Mall 7 list. It is confirmed that the video was indeed captured in the Sderot settlement, specifically on Menachem Begin Road near the Tapuz gas station and Mall 7.

The buildings, landmarks, advertising signs, and road pavement seen in the recently circulated video closely matched those featured in the footage from AlHadath channel.

The Israeli army announced that the Iron Dome intercepted five missiles in the skies of Sderot fired from the Gaza Strip on July 5, 2023.

No Palestinian resistance faction claimed responsibility for the missile launch at that time, yet Israel held Hamas accountable for the rocket fire and conducted airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in retaliation.

Iran's Retaliation to Israel's Bombing of the Iranian Consulate in Damascus

Following Israel's strike on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, claims began circulating after Iran announced on the evening of Saturday, April 13, the commencement of an attack on Israel dubbed "Operation True Promise" using hundreds of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

Iranian state news agency reported that the army successfully targeted the Israeli Nevatim Airbase in the Negev, which served as a launchpad for the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Just hours after the Iranian attack on Israel commenced, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian declared the operation limited and stated it did not target economic or civilian sites. Abdollahian added that they had informed the United States 48 hours prior to the operation, which served as a warning message to Israel.
