Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral claim and found it to be misleading.

Through reverse image search, Misbar's team found that the video is outdated and unrelated to the Israeli missiles targeting Iran.

A Missile From Lebanon Landing On An Israeli Settlement

The video shows a missile fired from Lebanon landing on the Ma'yan Baruch settlement in northern occupied Palestine.

Alaraby posted the viral video on YouTube on April 18, titled, “The moment a missile launched from Lebanon landed on Ma’yan Barouch settlement in Galilee,” confirming that it shows a missile from Lebanon, not Israel.

Also, TRT Arabi posted the viral video on X along with the caption that the clip was viral on Hebrew media outlets showing the fall of a missile fired from Lebanon on the Ma’yan Barouch settlement.

Israeli news outlets stated that the missile from Lebanon caused a fire in Ma’yan Barouch, and cut off power to some areas in Upper Galilee.

Israel Targeted Iran

In the early hours of Friday, an Israeli missile hit Isfahan province in Iran. Israel has not publicly confirmed it was behind that strike, but there are several indicators of it as some Iranian and U.S. officials confirmed.

According to Iranian state media reports, that came hours after senior U.S. officials said Israeli missiles had hit an Iranian site, Iran fired air defence batteries in multiple provinces and shot down three small drones over the central city of Isfahan. The air defence systems over the city of Tabriz in the northwestern part of Iran were also activated according to Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari.

Hossein Dalirian, a spokesman for Iran's National Centre of Cyberspace, said there was “no air attack from outside borders.” Israel had “only made a failed and humiliating attempt to fly quacopters [drones] and the quadcopters have also been shot down,” he added.

The Israeli strike on Iran comes less than a week after hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones were launched at Israel that were mostly shut down with the support of U.K. and U.S. The Iranian attack was a retaliation against the Israeli strike that hit an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria on 1 April, leading to the killing of some Iranian officials.
