Recently, social media users have been circulating an image claiming to depict a fire caused by an explosive ambush carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades on an Israeli force on April 28 in the Gaza Strip.

Misbar investigated the claim and found it to be misleading, as the image is old and does not depict a fire resulting from the ambush conducted by the Al-Qassam Brigades on an Israeli force in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Soldiers in Military Operation in Northern Gaza Strip
The circulated image, taken by French Press Agency photographer Gil Cohen Magen, was published in December 2023. It depicts a group of Israeli occupation soldiers participating in a military operation in the northern Gaza Strip, captured on December 20 of the same year.
Al-Qassam Brigades Target an Israeli Force in Gaza Strip
The circulation of the claim follows the announcement by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas movement, on Sunday, April 28, regarding their execution of an ambush on an Israeli force. This came after luring the force to a location rigged with mines, explosive devices, and F16 missiles. According to the Brigades' announcement, the Israeli occupation army had fired them at civilians, but they did not explode. This incident took place on Railway Street in the Mughraqa area, in the central Gaza Strip.
Additionally, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced their targeting of an Israeli site in the Netzarim axis, south of Gaza City, with several heavy-caliber mortar shells.
On the other hand, Israeli official sources have not yet announced the number of casualties or injuries in the recent ambush. However, Israeli journalist Yossi Melman shared a post today, Monday, on his account on the X platform, indicating that the municipality of Kiryat Yam near Haifa announced the killing of Israeli soldier Eido Avif in Gaza.
Media outlets also published scenes of Israeli helicopters landing in the Netzarim corridor in the middle of the Gaza Strip to evacuate the wounded after the Qassam Brigades targeted the area with mortar shells.
The Ongoing Israeli War on Gaza
The battles and clashes between Palestinian resistance factions and the Israeli army continue, as the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip persists since October 7, 2023.
According to the latest update issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health on Sunday, April 28, the toll of war victims has risen to 34,454 Palestinians killed and 77,575 others injured since October 7, 2023.
