Following the helicopter crash involving the Iranian President, social media users circulated a video clip purporting to feature the moment of the crash, with President Ebrahim Raisi on board.

2022 Video of Rescue Helicopter that Crashed in Georgia
Contrary to social media users’ widespread claim, the video was shot in Georgia in 2022.
The video, uploaded to a published article on July 29, 2022, captures the helicopter en route to rescue paragliders just before the crash into a mountain in Georgia, resulting in a massive explosion.
The Daily Mail news website has also published the video, depicting the harrowing moment when a rescue helicopter crashes and explodes while attempting to rescue two paragliders trapped on a cliff face in Georgia on July 29, 2022.
The emergency team was attempting to help two individuals who found themselves trapped on the cliff face when it crashed in Gudauri, a popular ski resort known for its summer hang gliding and paragliding activities.
According to APA, there were five individuals on board at the time of the crash, including two pilots and three rescue workers.
“A helicopter belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was helping to rescue paragliders in Gudauri, lost control and fell down,” said the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “In addition to crew members of the helicopter, there were paramedics and medics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Dies in Helicopter Crash
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six others, died in a helicopter crash near the border with Azerbaijan.
The aircraft, which went down in foggy weather conditions on Sunday, was discovered in mountainous terrain after an overnight search in challenging blizzard conditions. Concerns mounted for Raisi, a 63-year-old staunch conservative, when communication with the helicopter was lost as it navigated through fog-covered mountains in northwest Iran.
The crash occurred near Jolfa, a city bordering Azerbaijan, approximately 375 miles (600km) northwest of Tehran, while the president was traveling in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. As per Iran's constitution, a new presidential election must be conducted within 50 days.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, announced that Mohammad Mokhber, the first vice president, would serve as interim president, while Ali Bagheri Kani was appointed as acting foreign minister. Khamenei declared five days of public mourning and extended condolences to the Iranian people.
