According to a press release by the AWDA Health & Community Association on their Facebook page on November 9, 2023, Israeli airstrikes targeting the areas around Al Awda Hospital in Tal Al Zaatar and the Indonesian Hospital resulted in injuries to 10 hospital employees and damage to nine vehicles, including the complete destruction of two ambulances. The strikes also caused significant damage to various departments within Al Awda Hospital.

Al-Awda Hospital Faces Renewed Siege By Israeli Military

The claim started to circulate after Mohammad Salha, acting director of Al-Awda Hospital, revealed that the hospital is once again under siege by the Israeli military. According to ActionAid, shootings and shelling in the hospital's vicinity have prevented ambulances from leaving and injured individuals from receiving medical attention. Al-Awda Hospital remains the sole provider of maternity and orthopedic surgery services in northern Gaza.

ActionAid emphasized the urgent situation at Al-Awda, where dwindling fuel and clean water supplies, coupled with fears of being targeted, have left patients and staff in distress. Colleagues at Al-Awda Hospital have highlighted the severe impact of the siege, citing previous attacks and an 18-day siege in December that resulted in casualties among medical personnel.

Despite efforts to safeguard patients and staff, the hospital's capacity has been significantly diminished due to bombings, resulting in fatalities and bed losses. ActionAid noted that despite these challenges, 93 medical personnel continue to work tirelessly under exceedingly difficult circumstances.

ICC Seeks Arrest Warrants For Israeli And Hamas Leaders Over Alleged War Crimes

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has filed for arrest warrants against top Israeli and Hamas leaders for alleged war crimes. ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan stated on Monday that his office had applied for arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders regarding crimes purportedly committed during the Hamas-led October 7 attack on southern Israel and Israel’s subsequent war in Gaza.

Khan announced that his office had found "reasonable grounds" to believe that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant bear "criminal responsibility" for "war crimes and crimes against humanity." Additionally, Khan sought arrest warrants for three Hamas leaders – Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri (also known as Deif), and Ismail Haniyeh – on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The prosecutor's team uncovered evidence suggesting that Israel deliberately and systematically deprived the civilian population across Gaza of essential items for human survival. Khan cited instances of attacks on civilians, including those lining up for food, as well as obstruction of aid delivery by humanitarian agencies. He also highlighted attacks on and the killing of aid workers, which led many organizations to either reduce or cease their operations in Gaza.
