Recently, social media users have been circulating an image claiming that the Israeli reserve officer Tomer Rafael, was killed in a mysterious car explosion.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the footage and found the claim to be misleading.

After conducting a comprehensive reverse image search, Misbar’s team found that the Israeli officer was killed in a serious traffic accident near Mishor Adumim, in the industrial zone of the Israeli settlement of Ma’ale Adumim. 

A report to  MDA’s 101 hotline was received about a truck that overturned on Route 437 intersection. MDA medics and paramedics determined the death of the 45 year old officer with multiple systematic injuries.

Hamas launches rocket attack towards Tel Aviv

Hamas  has launched a rocket attack at the Tel Aviv area in central Israel, several of which were intercepted by air defense systems, according to the Israeli military. Hours later, Palestinian health and civilian officials said dozens of Palestinians had been killed and injured in Rafah, where displaced people were sheltering. 

At least 45 people were killed and 250 injured, the majority women and children, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza and the U.N.

The army had previously identified the camp it bombed in Rafah as being "within the safe zones where displaced people were urged to head."

Israel considered the strike on Rafah as a tragic mishap

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that a “tragic mishap” was made in an Israeli strike in the southern Gaza city of Rafah that set fire to a camp housing displaced Palestinians and, according to local officials, killed at least 45 people. 

The strike, one of the deadliest incidents in the eight-month war to date, came two days after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague ordered Israel to stop its operation in Rafah immediately.The civilian deaths prompted an outcry from global leaders, who called for the implementation of the ICJ order.
