2016 Video Of Free Syrian Army Faction Repels Assad Forces in Maardis
Misbar's team found that the video, dating back to October 2016, captures Jaish al-Izza, a leading faction of the Free Syrian Army in Hama, Syria, stopping Assad's forces on the Maardis town axis in the northern countryside of the province.
The video was uploaded on the YouTube channel "Almarra Today," operated by a youth media team from Syria. It is titled "Jaish al-Izz Kills and Wounds Dozens with a TOW Missile on the Front of Maardis in Hama Countryside."
Jaysh al-Izza Syrian Rebel Group
Jaysh al-Izza, established in 2013, was a Syrian rebel group affiliated with the Free Syrian Army. Primarily active in the al-Ghab Plain region of northern Hama Governorate in northwestern Syria, the group received anti-tank missiles from the United States. By late 2015, Jaysh al-Izza had grown to approximately 1,500 fighters.
In 2017, Jaysh al-Izza launched its Special Forces unit, which included both veteran and new fighters who underwent specialized training to prepare for challenging missions. The unit graduated 20 units of special forces, focusing on unique operational tactics, enhancing physical endurance, and providing appropriate moral and religious conditioning.
Al-Qassam Brigades Claim Destruction Of Israeli Tanks
The circulation of the claim started after Al Jazeera reported on Thursday that the Al-Qassam Brigades announced in a statement, "We targeted a Merkava tank of the Zionist regime with an Al-Yasin 105 rocket in the east of Deir al-Balah city in the center of the Gaza Strip, and destroyed it." In a subsequent statement, the Al-Qassam Brigades declared the destruction of two more tanks belonging to the Zionist regime in the same area.
Additionally, the military wing of Hamas announced that they blew up the entrance of a bombed tunnel in "Tel al-Arab," west of Rafah, resulting in the death of five soldiers during the operation. Media sources also reported rocket attacks on Zionist settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
210 Palestinians Killed in Nuseirat Refugee Camp
Gaza’s Government Media Office has reported that an "Israeli massacre" at the Nuseirat refugee camp has resulted in the deaths of 210 Palestinians and over 400 injuries. The Ministry of Health in Gaza mentioned that a significant number of casualties, including many children and women, were being brought to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The hospital is facing challenges due to a shortage of medical supplies and food, with their main generator ceasing operation due to fuel scarcity.
The situation is dire, with injured individuals strewn across the streets and medical staff working tirelessly to provide essential care. Communication has been disrupted by the ongoing bombardment, making it difficult to assess the full extent of the crisis. Inside the overwhelmed hospital, Al Jazeera correspondent Hind Khoudary described a scene of chaos and fear, with constant explosions and ambulances rushing in with more wounded, including children.
