The Claim

Bibas kids spotted? Reports in Israel say that members of the Bibas family were possibly seen in a clip on a famous Gazan Instagram page. Ofc big question is if its thrm when  was this taken and are they still there as the video can probably be geolocated. Hope and pray for their safe return

Emerging story

Amid the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, a video clip has been extensively circulated by Israeli social media users. Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral footage and found the claim to be misleading.

The circulating video does not show the two Israeli Bibas kids held captive in Gaza. It shows Gazan children with red hair.

This Video Does Not Display the Bibas Kids in Gaza

Contrary to Israeli users’ viral claim, the video does not show the Bibas kids in Gaza. The video features a group of Gazan children reciting the Talbiyah, "Labaik Allahumma Labbaik," in anticipation of Eid al-Adha.

In another recently published video featuring the same group of children, it is clear that the children with red hair do not resemble the Israeli Bibas kids.

The individual who posted the video featuring children reciting the Talbiyah posted another video, clarifying that the children with red hair displayed in the video are not the Israeli Bibas children. He explained that there are several children with red hair in his family.

In the video, he chatted with the children with red hair in Arabic, and one of them expressed a desire, saying, "I want this war to end, so I can go to school." The young man also mentioned that his family wishes to live in peace.

The Bibas Kids Killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza

In November 2023, the Mujahideen Brigades, a Palestinian Resistance faction, announced the deaths of three Israeli detainees from the Bibas family due to intense Israeli bombing.

The military wing of the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement identified the three prisoners killed in an Israeli bombing as Sherry Silverman Bibas, Kfir Bibas, and Ariel Bibas. In a statement, the faction condemned what it described as a relentless Zionist assault on Gaza, characterized by widespread bombing that spared no part of the Strip. The statement criticized the Israeli government for disregarding the safety of prisoners held by resistance groups and alleged that the bombings were aimed at eliminating them to avoid the costs of future exchanges.

The faction also mentioned previous communication issues with its groups responsible for securing Zionist prisoners, suggesting a communication breakdown that may have contributed to the tragic outcome for the Bibas family. The statement concluded by holding the Israeli government fully accountable for what it described as a deliberate and brutal attack on Palestinian civilians and resistance groups, accusing it of failing to meet its obligations regarding prisoner exchanges.

Relatives Criticize Gantz's Remarks About the Bibas Family Hostages

The Israeli military asserts that the Bibas family is alive in Gaza and dismisses the Palestinian faction's claim as "psychological terror."

"I believe so," stated Benny Gantz in a Kan TV interview on Thursday night when asked about Israel's knowledge of the family's fate, adding that information will be disclosed "when things come to fruition."

“We ask of elected officials who choose to express themselves on the issue that they do not engage in irresponsible speculation,” they said. “We emphasize that there is no certain information regarding Shiri, the children, or Yarden.”

In February, the IOF released purportedly recent footage showing Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas in the Gaza Strip, shortly after their capture on October 7.

Israel Killed Over 15,600 Gazan Children Since October 7

As of June 12, Gaza's government reports that 15,694 children have been killed and 17,000 are orphaned following 250 days of Israel's conflict in Gaza. The recent toll from the war includes at least 37,396 martyrs and 85,523 injuries since October 7.

The Gaza Government Media Office warns that a lack of aid, including food, nutritional supplements, and vaccines, has placed 3,500 children at risk of death due to malnutrition. It is reported that one out of every three Palestinian children under the age of 2 in northern Gaza suffers from acute malnutrition.

A UN commission has declared that Israeli authorities are accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
