2016 Video from Syria Clashes Resurfaces Online
Contrary to social media users’ viral claim, the video is not recent and was not shot in Palestine.
The video features a free Syrian army faction fighting against Assad forces in Maardees, Hama countryside, Syria.
Misbar's investigative team traced the original video back to October 2016. It was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Almarra Today" on October 16, 2016. The video's translated title reads, "Watch... Jaysh al-Izza kills and wounds dozens with a TOW missile on the Maardas front in the Hama countryside."
Orient News also uploaded the same video on YouTube on October 16, 2016. The video's description indicates that Jaysh al-Izza, a rebel group in Syria, attacked and killed Iranian militants in a missile strike in Balad Maardas in the northern Hama countryside.
Orient News reported that the media office of the "Jaysh al-Izza" broadcast a video clip showing a TOW missile strike targeting a group of Iranian militias near Balad Maardas in the northern Hama countryside, causing deaths and injuries among them.
The regime forces have been trying to control the town of Maardas in the Hama countryside. The rebels managed to destroy two tanks and kill or capture several regime members amid heavy bombardment by warplanes.
What Is Jaysh al-Izza?
Jaysh al-Izza was a Syrian rebel group affiliated with the Free Syrian Army, founded in 2013. It was mostly active on the al-Ghab Plain in northern Hama Governorate, northwestern Syria.
By late 2015, the group had approximately 1,500 fighters.
The Palestinian Resistance's Recent Operations Against the Israeli Military
The Israeli military announced that 14 soldiers were wounded in battles in the Gaza Strip within one day, while the resistance reported attacks on soldiers and occupation vehicles in Rafah in the south.
The occupation army confirmed the deaths of 666 officers and soldiers since the beginning of the war in Gaza on October 7, in addition to approximately 3,900 wounded. However, the resistance claims that the occupation's human losses are much greater than these figures.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health confirmed on Wednesday that the number of martyrs of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, ongoing since October 7, has risen to 37,718 martyrs, with 86,377 injured.
