Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. The video, published before the French legislative elections, shows a protest in Lyon, France, on June 1 opposing the war in Gaza.

Demonstration in Lyon Condemns Rafah Incursion and Ongoing Aggression in Gaza

French protesters gathered in Bellecour Square in Lyon on June 1 to support Palestine and call for a ceasefire.

The demonstration occurred six days after Israel launched its military operation in Rafah. For the sixth consecutive day, crowds gathered to support the Palestinian people, organized by the group "Palestine 69."

The protesters condemned the relentless targeting of civilians and the ongoing blockade of the Gaza Strip. They demanded an immediate ceasefire, the lifting of the blockade, and empowerment of relief and humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to residents and displaced people.

Left-Wing Alliance Leads in French Elections

The Left-Wing Alliance topped the second round of the French legislative elections on Sunday, July 7, according to preliminary results, which projected it to secure between 172 and 215 seats in the French parliament.

Additionally, the centrist alliance "Together for the Republic," backed by President Emmanuel Macron, claimed the second position in the results with projections ranging between 150 and 180 seats. In contrast, the far-right alliance fell short of a majority, contrary to some polling expectations, and is expected to garner only 115 to 155 seats.

This result represents a significant setback for the far-right, which polls had predicted would win by a comfortable margin before the left and centrist alliances collaborated by withdrawing dozens of candidates from the electoral race to unify efforts against the National Rally. According to these results, none of the three blocs will be able to secure an absolute majority in parliament.
