Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the claim and found it to be fake. The Houthi military spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, did not appeal to the Arabs for assistance in his statements following the recent Israeli strike on Yemen, nor did he announce the destruction of Hodeidah port as claimed.

The Houthis Did Not Seek Arab Support After Israel Targeted Hodeidah Port

Upon reviewing the statements from the Houthi group and their military spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, following Israel’s attack on Hodeidah governorate on Saturday, July 20, Misbar found no indication that the Houthis requested Arab assistance due to the destruction of Hodeidah port by Israel.

In a statement issued on the evening of July 20, after the Israeli assault on Yemen, Brigadier General Yahya Saree declared that Yemeni forces would retaliate against the Israeli aggression targeting Hodeidah. He warned that a prolonged conflict with Israel would be imminent, highlighting that the city of Jaffa would be unsafe.

Saree also noted that Israeli airstrikes had hit the power station supplying Hodeidah, as well as the port and fuel tanks, which are civilian infrastructure.

He affirmed that the Yemeni armed forces would respond firmly to these attacks and would not hesitate to strike Israel's critical targets.

Saree further stated that the "Yemeni armed forces, guided by their leadership and supported by the steadfast Yemeni people, will continue their operations in support of Gaza, regardless of the consequences." He added that preparations are underway for a prolonged struggle with Israel until the aggression ceases, the blockade is lifted, and the crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza are stopped.

He concluded by emphasizing that the Israeli aggression against Yemen requires serious action from all members of the nation to support the Palestinian cause and reject Israeli aggression.

The Locations Targeted by the Israeli Attack in Yemen

Media reports indicate that most of the Israeli airstrikes targeted oil storage facilities at Hodeidah port and the unloading dock, causing fires that resulted in severe burns for dozens of people.

Local sources informed Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that "the Israeli strikes hit two container cranes at Hodeidah port, which were expected to enter service in the coming weeks after being repaired from earlier damage caused by the Saudi-led coalition."

Additionally, other Israeli airstrikes struck the Ras al-Khatib power station, leading to widespread power outages across Hodeidah.

Houthis Launch Attack on Eilat

The Houthi group announced in a statement that it has carried out a military operation in the settlement of Eilat, located on the land of Umm al-Rashrash, in response to Israeli airstrikes targeting the city of Hodeidah. They vowed a greater retaliation and claimed to have struck a U.S. ship in the Red Sea.

The group’s military spokesperson stated that the response to Israeli aggression against Yemen is "inevitable and will be significant," explaining that Houthi military operations will continue until the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza ceases.

On the morning of Friday, July 19, the Houthi group also announced the launch of a new drone named "Yafa," which resulted in the death of an Israeli and injuries to eight others.

Houthi Leader’s Statement on Israeli Airstrikes in Hodeidah

On Sunday evening, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi delivered a televised speech about the Israeli attack on Hodeidah governorate. He stated that "the threat and danger will persist in Tel Aviv, and the new situation clearly shows the complete failure of those defending the Israeli enemy and its allies."

He added that the drone used in the attack on Tel Aviv "delivered a significant psychological blow to the enemy, causing widespread panic and concern among the enemy’s forces in the city, the targeted area, and the U.S. consulate."

Al-Houthi explained that "as the war enters its tenth month, the Israeli enemy requires increased pressure and deterrence to compel it to stop its aggression against Gaza." He also noted that the American-British aggression against Yemen has failed to halt or even reduce the group's operations.
