Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading.

A thorough reverse image search found the video to be part of a movie showing free Palestine.

Scenes from a Short Movie Shared as Airtrikes on Israel

Contrary to social media users’ viral claim, the video does not show real scenes of Yemen targeting key locations in Israel, such as Tel Aviv and the Knesset.

Misbar’s investigative team traced the video back to its original publisher on YouTube. It premiered on August 7, 2022, on a channel belonging to the movie “Saqatatt.”

The video is titled "Fell... The work that tells the story of the liberation of Palestine" and was created and performed by 150 international and Arab artists, including Lebanese and Syrian artists, who came together to produce content supporting Palestine.

In an interview with Al-Mayadeen channel, one of Al-Qadeyah group, which is the behind the movie creation, explained that the movie aims to change the stereotypical image of Arab armies and to challenge the recent normalization agreements between Arab countries and Israel. He also stated that such documentary movies help beat Israel.

In October 2022, Hebrew Channel 12 criticized the movie, stating that it "talks about the end of Israel" and labeled the movie's participants and creators as a group of vandals. The channel also mentioned that such films oppose the normalization agreements between Israel and Arab countries.

Recent Yemen-Israel Reciprocal Escalation

On Friday, the Yemeni Houthi group launched a drone strike on Tel Aviv, hitting an apartment building in the city center. The attack resulted in one death and injured at least 10 others. The Houthi group claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was in retaliation for Israel's war in Gaza.

In response, Israel launched air strikes on the Houthi movement in Yemen a day after the drone strike. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the aim was to send a message to the Houthis. "The fire that is currently burning in Hodeidah, is seen across the Middle East and the significance is clear," he said.

Houthi official Mohammed Abdulsalam condemned the air strikes, calling them a "brutal Israeli aggression against Yemen." He stated that the strikes were intended to pressure the Houthis to stop supporting Palestinians in Gaza, which he declared would not happen.

The airstrikes targeted the Houthi-controlled Red Sea port of Hodeidah on Saturday evening, igniting huge fires. The Houthi-run government in Sana'a reported that the strikes hit oil storage facilities and a nearby power plant, resulting in civilian casualties.

On Sunday, Israel intercepted a missile from Yemen after the airstrikes on the Houthi port. Israeli forces said the missile was launched from Yemen a day after Israel struck the Houthi-controlled port. The missile did not cross into Israeli territory, but “warnings of rocket and missile fire” were issued out of concern that shrapnel could fall on residents, according to the Israel Defense Forces. The missile approached Israel from the Red Sea.
