Misbar's team found that the circulating video is reportedly older than stated, with the earliest known publication appearing on TikTok in November 2023. This video has not been broadcast on Iranian television nor shared by any official news outlet.

Additionally, further examination of the video revealed that it was sourced from the video game 'Wargame: Red Dragon,' featuring the Yugoslav SVLR M-77 Oganj MLRS vehicles.

Rising Tensions Following Hamas Leader’s Assassination: u.s. Response and International Concerns

The claim circulated after the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, with Iran attributing the act to Israel and promising "severe" repercussions. Tensions have escalated in the past week, but Israel has not accepted responsibility for the incident. Amid growing concerns over a potential Iranian attack on Israel, U.S. President Joe Biden convened his senior national security team on Monday.

He noted that preparations are underway to support Israel in the event of an attack. Secretary of State Antony Blinken mentioned that officials are working tirelessly to avert further escalation. Several nations, including the U.S. and UK, have advised their citizens to depart Lebanon, amid fears that Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia, could become involved in potential retaliatory actions.

Following the briefing, Biden stated that they are monitoring threats from Iran and its affiliates and are ready to assist Israel if needed. He noted that measures are being developed to counter attacks against U.S. forces as well. On Monday, a suspected rocket attack on a U.S. military base in Iraq left several personnel injured.

During earlier remarks, Blinken emphasized the need for intense diplomatic efforts, urging all parties to avoid actions that could exacerbate the situation. He warned that escalation would only result in increased conflict and insecurity and highlighted the importance of a ceasefire in promoting stability in Gaza and other conflict-affected areas. He stressed the urgency for all parties to make wise decisions in the coming hours and days.

Yahya Sinwar Appointed as Hamas’ New Political Leader Following Haniyeh’s Assassination

Hamas announced Yahya Sinwar, its senior official in Gaza, as the new head of its political bureau. The decision follows the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31, according to the Palestinian group. In a brief statement, Hamas declared, “The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announces the selection of Commander Yahya Sinwar as the head of the political bureau of the movement, succeeding the martyr Commander Ismail Haniyeh, may [God] have mercy on him.”

At 61 years old, Sinwar is considered by Israel to be the architect of the October 7 attack that resulted in more than 1,100 fatalities and over 200 hostages. In response, Israel launched a military offensive in Gaza, which has led to nearly 40,000 Palestinian deaths, including thousands of women and children. The conflict has displaced nearly the entire population of 2.3 million and triggered an unprecedented humanitarian crisis marked by widespread starvation and health emergencies. Reports also indicate systematic human rights abuses, including the torture of Palestinians in detention.
