Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral photo and found the claim to be misleading.

After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the photo making the rounds to be outdated and unrelated to the Hezbollah-Israel conflict.

Outdated Photo Shows Rockets Fired from Gaza Toward Israel

Contrary to the claim, the photo was not captured during Hezbollah’s recent barrage of rockets toward Israel.

Misbar’s investigative team traced the original photo back to May 2021. The photo captures rockets being launched toward Israel from Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, during the escalation at that time.

Photographer Said Khatib captured the photo early on May 12, 2021, for AFP.

Hezbollah Fires Rockets into Israel Amid Recent Escalation

On Sunday night, Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets toward northern Israel while Israeli forces remained on high alert for possible retaliation from Iran following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Hezbollah group missile attacks toward Israel have become nearly daily occurrences since the Israel-Gaza war began, raising concerns about a broader regional conflict involving Iran.

Hezbollah's recent rocket fire was aimed at supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza and retaliating against Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, according to the group's statement.

The Israeli military reported that around 30 rockets were launched from Lebanon, with some landing in open areas and no injuries reported.

In response to escalating tensions, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has dispatched a guided-missile submarine to the Middle East and expedited the arrival of a carrier strike group in anticipation of a possible Iranian attack on Israel.

Recently, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced from Khan Yunis, forced to seek refuge on sidewalks and streets throughout the enclave, often without access to food or water.

According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Israel Occupying Forces have killed 1.8 percent of Gaza’s population since October 7, with 75 percent of the victims being under 30 years old. The ongoing Israeli barbaric war on Gaza has resulted in at least 39,897 deaths and 92,152 injuries.
