The Claim

The Iron Dome has completely failed. Just like Oct. 7th, the odds of this happening organically is ZERO.

Emerging story

In the wake of the ongoing Hezbollah-Israel conflict, social media users widely spread a video clip purporting to show Hezbollah missiles striking Israeli targets.

An X user shared the clip, criticizing the Iron Dome for its inability to intercept these attacks. The accompanying caption reads, “The Iron Dome has completely failed. Just like Oct. 7th, the odds of this happening organically is ZERO.”

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral footage and found the claim to be misleading.

A thorough reverse image search found that the video is old and unrelated to Hezbollah or Israel.

Old Video Shows Russian Attack on Kyiv, Ukraine

Contrary to social media users’ circulating claim, the video does not depict a recent Hezbollah missile attack on Israel.

Instead, it shows a Ukrainian defense system intercepting Russian rockets in August 2023. The Telegraph published a clear version of this footage on YouTube on August 30, 2023, titled, “Moment Ukraine 'shoots down' Russian missiles and drones launched overnight.”

Two Killed in Russian Attack on Kyiv, Ukraine

On August 30, 2023, Russia launched its largest airstrike on Kyiv, resulting in two deaths. The strike caused missile debris to fall on buildings, a park, and a school, according to Ukrainian officials.

Three people were injured in the attack on Kyiv, while combat drones targeted infrastructure in the central region of Zhytomyr, damaging an unidentified facility and railway tracks, and causing train delays.

General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's armed forces, said that Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted all 28 incoming missiles and 15 of 16 drones in the assault, which also affected the Black Sea region of Odesa.

Russia's Defence Ministry stated that its forces struck several Ukrainian command and reconnaissance posts, claiming that all designated targets were successfully hit.

Hezbollah Targets Israeli Sites Amid Heightened Escalation

Hezbollah has launched a barrage of rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel, citing retaliation for Israeli attacks the previous week. The Israeli military reports that its Iron Dome defense system intercepted some, but not all, of the incoming rockets.

The latest barrage from Hezbollah was described as support for the Palestinian people in Gaza and retaliation for Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon. This follows a report by Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency of an Israeli strike on the town of Ma’aroub in southern Lebanon, which injured 12 people, including six children.

According to the Israeli military, around 30 rockets were fired from Lebanon, with some landing in open areas and no injuries reported.

Ongoing Israeli Genocidal Campaign in Gaza

In Israel’s ongoing barbaric war on Gaza, at least 39,897 people have been killed and 92,152 wounded. In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 25 Palestinians across Gaza.

According to figures from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Israeli forces have killed 1.8 percent of Gaza’s population, with 75 percent of the victims being under 30.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced from Khan Yunis, forced to seek refuge on sidewalks and streets throughout the enclave, often without access to food or water.
