Outdated Photo Shows Gaza Rockets Fired Toward Israel 

Contrary to the misleading claim circulating on social media, the photo does not show recent rockets fired by the Al-Qassam Brigades toward Israel

The original photo, dated May 4, 2019, depicts smoke trails rising as a rocket is launched from the southern Gaza Strip toward Israel.

Photographer Abed Rahim Khatib captured the photo for Flash90, and it was featured in an article published by the Jewish News Syndicate.

The Arabic website of The Times of Israel also featured the same photo in an article about a rocket fired from Gaza targeting an open field in Israel on May 4, 2019.

According to the Hebrew media, on May 4, 2019, sirens started in southern Israeli towns, alerting residents to a potential rocket attack. The military later confirmed that a rocket launched by Palestinian resistance had fallen in the Gaza Strip. Reports indicated that the missile landed on open ground, with no injuries or damage reported.

The Iron Dome missile defense system was activated, and an interceptor missile was fired, according to a military statement. The sirens were heard in Be'eri and Alumim, located in the Eshkol region east of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Military Launches Over 100 Raids on Gaza in May 2019

According to a ReliefWeb report, between May 3 and May 6, 2019, the Israeli military conducted over 100 raids across various locations in the Gaza Strip. Israeli jetfighters launched more than 180 missiles, targeting and destroying seven residential and commercial buildings, 57 security sites, 20 open areas, and other public and private properties.

In addition, Israeli artillery fired over 60 shells into eastern Gaza Strip areas. These attacks followed a new military escalation that began on May 3, 2019, after four Palestinians, including two protesters at the Great March of Return demonstrations, were killed. 

Eight Palestinians had been killed and 22 wounded in the Israeli attacks. Fourteen housing units, along with media and think-tank offices in seven targeted buildings, were destroyed, causing significant damage to surrounding homes.

Al-Qassam Brigades Targeted Israel With Two “M90” Rockets

On August 13, Hamas' armed Al-Qassam Brigades announced that they had targeted Tel Aviv and its suburbs with two "M90" rockets. Explosions were reported in Tel Aviv, but Israeli media reported no casualties. 

Al-Qassam Brigades stated that the attack was a response to massacres against civilians and the deliberate displacement of our people. “Al-Qassam Brigades bombarded the city of Tel Aviv and its suburbs with two M90 missiles in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians and the deliberate displacement of our people,” Al-Qassam's statement reads.

Since October 7, at least 36 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks yesterday, with another 20 killed this morning. 

For more than 10 months, Gaza residents have faced relentless displacement. Israel’s military has issued orders for Palestinians to evacuate additional areas of war-torn Khan Yunis as it prepares for further actions.
