Hezbollah Attacks Northern Israel
The claim began circulating after Hezbollah announced on the evening of Friday, August 16, that it had attacked Israeli artillery positions in the Zawiya area of the Golan Heights.
In a statement, Hezbollah said its fighters targeted Israeli artillery positions in Zawiya in the occupied Syrian Golan with rocket fire, in support of the Palestinian people and to bolster the Palestinian resistance.
Hezbollah also announced a series of armed operations against the Israeli army along the Lebanese-Palestinian border, including a drone attack on a tank battalion headquarters at the Rawiya Barracks near the border.
In response to Israeli attacks on villages and towns in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah stated that it had shelled Israeli fortifications and troop concentrations in Baraka Risha, Al-Aasi, the Neta'ot settlement, and around the Metat barracks, causing injuries among the soldiers.
Israeli media reported that 55 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon toward the Upper Galilee in northern Israel, along with a drone that flew toward the Ramim Ridge border area. The Israeli army confirmed that two soldiers were injured by a shell in a general ambulance in the Upper Galilee.
Israeli fire crews reported more than 10 fires in open and agricultural areas due to the recent rocket salvo and added that they are working to prevent the fires from spreading to nearby buildings and settlements.
Israeli Airstrike Kills 10 People in Southern Lebanon
On August 17, the Israeli army launched an airstrike on Wadi al-Kafur in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that ten people, including two children, were killed and five others were injured. The National News Agency said all the victims were Syrian nationals, including a family and several workers.
In a related statement, the Israeli army said its aircraft targeted a Hezbollah weapons warehouse in the Nabatieh area. The statement also mentioned that airstrikes hit Kfarkila, Yaron, Deir Siryan, Al-Taybeh, and Ataybah in southern Lebanon the previous day.
The statement claimed that one of these strikes resulted in the death of a Hezbollah fighter and that a massive fire broke out in the Marjayoun plain near the Mottola settlement due to a flare.
