Netanyahu’s Pool Repairs Approved During Gaza War
At the time, Miki Zohar, Likud's coalition chairman, claimed on Army Radio that Israel's tax authority was pressuring Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with demands for hundreds of thousands of shekels in back taxes, potentially placing a lien on his assets. This controversy prompted the Knesset’s Finance Committee to debate Netanyahu’s request for nearly a million shekels in tax rebates and benefits, amid Israel’s severe economic crisis with high unemployment. The specifics of the rebates, which relate to renovations at Netanyahu's private home and use of the prime ministerial car, remain unclear, and it is uncertain if similar benefits were granted to previous prime ministers.
The Prime Minister’s Office approved repairs to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pool at his Caesarea residence during the ongoing Gaza war, despite objections from chief accountant Roy Benbenisti, according to a Haaretz report. The decision, which involved fixing the pool’s steps and leaks, led to the resignation of a top official. The report comes amid criticisms of Netanyahu's and his wife Sara's spending, especially during a period of severe budgetary constraints due to the war.
Suspicious Aircraft Near Netanyahu’s Home
on August 18, an Israeli Navy missile boat reported a suspicious aircraft near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Caesarea home, initially suspected to be a Hezbollah reconnaissance drone. Despite radar detection, the aircraft was not visually confirmed, and Israeli Air Force jets could not locate it. The Israeli forces suggest it was likely a false alarm, though the possibility of a small UAV from Lebanon has not been ruled out. Netanyahu’s office confirmed that he was not at the residence and labeled the incident a "false alarm."

The Israeli army has also issued evacuation orders in various Gaza areas and targeted displacement tents, further worsening the humanitarian situation.
