Altered Satirical Photo of Chicago River
The photo initially surfaced on “The Babylon Bee,” a satirical news site, on August 19. Accompanying the image was a parody article claiming that, for a party convention, a decision had been made to dye the river blood-red to create a dramatic visual symbolizing the Democrats' commitment to mass-murdering helpless infants.
The article added, “Turning the Chicago River blood-red is the perfect way to celebrate our party's national convention and remind everyone just how excited we get about killing babies,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison.
St. Patrick’s Day Green Dye Celebration in Chicago
St. Patrick's Day in Chicago is a lively festival that honors the city's Irish roots and festive spirit. The highlight of the day is the historic dyeing of the Chicago River, which began in 1962 and turns the river a vibrant green.
This celebration draws thousands to the riverbanks between State and Columbus. In addition to the river dyeing, the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade begins at noon and features a variety of colorful floats, marching bands, and traditional Irish music.
After conducting a reverse image search, Misbar’s team discovered that the photo originated from a CBS video published on March 16, 2024, which featured the Chicago River dyed green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
2024 Democratic National Convention To Nominate Kamala Harris
The 2024 Democratic National Convention is running from August 19 to 22, 2024, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. During this convention, delegates of the Democratic Party will finalize their platform and formally nominate Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
They will also endorse her selection of Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota as her vice-presidential running mate for the upcoming presidential election. Harris, who was nominated through online and phone voting from August 1 to 5, is making history as the first Black woman and South Asian person to be the presidential nominee of a major U.S. political party, as well as the first Democratic nominee from the Western United States.
Former President Barack Obama delivered the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday, August 20, telling the audience that he is "feeling hopeful" because Vice President Kamala Harris is ready to take the reins of the presidency.
