Emerging story
Recently, social media users have been circulating a video claiming to show a fire in Haifa after Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading, as the video is outdated and does not show a fire in Haifa following Hezbollah's recent strikes on Israel.
Explosion at Gas Station in Aden, Yemen
The video dates back to late August 2024 and documents fires resulting from powerful explosions in a residential neighborhood in Aden, Yemen, following an explosion at a gas station in the Mansoura district.
Media reports indicated that at least five people were killed in the incident, and 13 others were injured.
Local residents told reporters covering the incident that "the fire broke out at a domestic gas station on Street 90 in the Mansoura district, causing a massive explosion that was heard across various parts of the city." They explained that the incident occurred while a gas truck was unloading its cargo at the station.
Hezbollah Launches Rockets at Haifa
The claim began circulating following Hezbollah's announcement on September 21 that it had targeted the Ramat David base and airport southeast of Haifa with dozens of rockets in response to recent Israeli attacks on Hezbollah members via wireless devices.
Israeli media reported that a rocket fell near the Ramat David base, and explosions were heard in the Nahala area adjacent to the Israeli Ramat David airbase in the Jezreel Valley, east of Haifa.
Israeli Army Escalates Attacks in Southern Lebanon
In contrast, Israel announced on Saturday that dozens of warplanes targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon amid intensified clashes across the border and growing fears of an all-out war.
The Israeli occupation forces had targeted Hezbollah military leader Ibrahim Aqil on Friday with an airstrike on a residential building in southern Beirut. A source close to Hezbollah, cited by Agence France-Presse, stated that Aqil, the commander of the Radwan Force—Hezbollah's elite unit—was killed in the Israeli strike.
