Recently, Social media accounts and pages have been circulating a video, falsely claiming it shows an explosion at the port of Haifa following Hezbollah’s recent attack on the area.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading, as the video is outdated and does not show a fire at the Port of Haifa after the recent Hezbollah attack.
Fishing Boat Fire in Taiwan, 2023
The video dates back to December 2023 and shows a fishing boat on fire in Budai Township, Taiwan.
At the time, local Chinese sources reported that the Chiayi County Fire Department had received a report of a fishing boat fire near Huanhe Street in Budai Township and immediately dispatched vehicles to the scene. They said no one was injured in the fire.
Hezbollah Announces Attack on Haifa
The claim circulated after Hezbollah’s Lebanese wing announced Sunday that it had targeted the Ramat David base and Haifa airport twice with dozens of missiles in response to recent Israeli strikes.
Hezbollah stated in a report that it had targeted the military industrial complexes of Rafael, a company specializing in electronic equipment and devices, located north of Haifa. The group said this was an initial response to the recent bombing of pager and wireless device facilities.
Israeli media reported that a missile struck near the Ramat David base, causing minor injuries. They added that Hezbollah fired about 85 missiles at Haifa, marking the group’s most significant missile strike since the war began last October.
Israeli media also reported that four Israelis were injured by shrapnel from the missiles fired at Haifa. Additionally, 12 homes were damaged, and several cars were set ablaze in the Kiryat Bialik area. Sources said schools were canceled Sunday in several towns southeast of Haifa, including Acre, Tiberias, Nahariya, and Safed, due to the ongoing bombing in the north.
Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon
The Israeli army announced it bombed dozens of Hezbollah targets, including launch pads and military facilities across multiple areas in southern Lebanon. It emphasized its commitment to dismantling and weakening Hezbollah's capabilities and infrastructure.
Lebanese media reported that the Israeli army has conducted a series of airstrikes on various areas in southern Lebanon since Saturday evening.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that one person was killed and another injured in an Israeli raid on the town of Aitaroun in southern Lebanon.
