Recently, social media users have been circulating a video claiming to depict celebrations in the streets of Lebanon following the targeting of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading, as the video does not show to a celebration by Lebanese people following Israel's announcement of targeting Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
Protests in Lebanon (2019-2020)
The video was posted on a TikTok account named k.reem in January 2020, referring to a series of protests that erupted in the country on October 17, 2019.
Lebanese citizens took to the streets across the country for weeks to protest against the social and economic conditions amid the collapse of the local currency.
Demonstrators chanted slogans against the government, which they believed was incapable of addressing one of the worst crises the country has faced.
Hassan Nasrallah’s Assassination
Lebanese Hezbollah announced the assassination of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah (62), in an Israeli airstrike that targeted him on the evening of Friday, September 27, in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The party's statement said, 'His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, joined his great immortal martyr comrades who have led their journey for over 30 years.'
The statement noted Nasrallah's leadership of the party since 1992, including during the July 2006 war and the victories achieved during his tenure.
The party's leadership confirmed its continued 'struggle against the enemy, in support of Gaza and Palestine, and in defense of Lebanon and its steadfast and honorable people.'
Israeli army spokesman in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, announced the elimination of Nasrallah and several commanders in an attack on the party's central command center in the suburbs.
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari stated at a press conference, 'Nasrallah was one of Israel's most bitter enemies... his elimination makes the world safer.'
Media reports on Saturday indicated that Iranian Revolutionary Guard Deputy Commander Abbas Nilforoushan was killed in the Israeli airstrikes on Beirut on Friday.
