The image was published by Getty Images on January 2, 2024, stating that it documented a gathering at the site of an Israeli airstrike targeting a Hamas office in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon.

In the attack carried out by Israel using a drone, Saleh al-Arouri, the leader and deputy head of Hamas's political bureau, was assassinated.

Hamas announced the assassinations of al-Arouri and two of his companions in the Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Hezbollah Confirms Assassination of Hassan Nasrallah

The claim began circulating following the Israeli military's announcement of the targeting of Hassan Nasrallah in the airstrike on the southern suburbs.

On Saturday morning, September 28, the military confirmed the assassination of Nasrallah and other leaders. The spokesperson for the Israeli military in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, stated on his account on X that the military also assassinated the commander of Hezbollah's southern front, Ali Karki, along with several other leaders during the same airstrikes.

Hezbollah confirmed in a statement the assassination of its Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in the airstrikes that targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The group added in a statement, "His Excellency Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, has joined his eternal and great martyr companions who have led their path for nearly 30 years."
